A re-introduction of Mags and the Academicus Story
Hi! Hello! G’day! It has been a while and I am not sure we have met yet?

....and I am beyond grateful to see so many new faces in our growing community—welcome!
Whether you've just joined us or have been part of this journey from the beginning, I wanted to take a moment to reintroduce myself and share the story of how Academicus came to be.
Academicus is more than just a space—it’s a reflection of my own childhood experiences and those of my sister, Katie, who co-founded this little haven for young minds.
We had the most incredible childhood, filled with adventure, curiosity, and a deep sense of wonder. But it was also shaped by a big transition—we moved from Poland to Australia as children, experiencing firsthand what it meant to be expat kids in a completely new environment.
That journey of adapting, learning a new language, and navigating a different culture opened our eyes to the importance of belonging, confidence, and having a safe space to grow.
It’s this very experience that inspired us to create Academicus—a place where international families, just like ours once was, can find community, connection, and a nurturing environment for their little ones.
The journey of building Academicus has been filled with challenges, joy, and an unwavering belief that childhood should be filled with wonder, curiosity, and meaningful connections.
It’s a place where both children and parents can feel supported and empowered.
If you’d like to hear more about the story behind Academicus—what inspired us, the challenges we faced, and why this space means so much to us—I invite you to listen to this podcast interview:
