Are you an expat family, raising your kids in Switzerland? Wondering if it is a good idea...?

"Hang on a minute, didn’t you say you were Polish?" - I often hear from people whom I meet for the first time and who happen to pick up on my Aussie accent...

Absolutely I am 100% Polish.

But here’s the twist: my sister Katie (co-founder of Academicus, who you might know from our Academicus classes & workshops) and I are also True Blue Aussie Kids!

We spent our formative years in the Land Down Under, and those years shaped who we are today.

Australia gave us so much:

🇦🇺 The smell of the gumtrees & the sight of kangaroos hopping in the bush,

🇦🇺 The taste of the salt on our skin after swimming in pristine sea waters

🇦🇺 The sound of possums rustling on our rooftop at home

🇦🇺 The experience of hands-on-experimental project work at school

🇦🇺 The thrill and excitement of making new friends and learning about their culture💬 English as one of our native languages

But is wasn't all rainbows and butterflies... Being expat kids, we know first hand how life-changing this journey can be.

We know it takes courage to raise your children far from your homeland, but the resilience, open-mindedness, and determination they’ll gain is priceless - trust me.

Our parents were the first generation of "ex-patriots" who left Poland for their job - not because they were fleeing from an oppressive Motherland - but consciously taking the decision to work and live abroad. They had no idea how the whole experience would impact their kids, our family life, opportunities, etc....

It turned out to be an incredible gamble - and an investment of time, energy, money, nerves...that has truly paid off.

I would never take it back (not even the occasional feelings of not fitting in and the frustration of learning a new language...).

So, here’s to you—amazing, brave & strong parents—juggling careers, homes, and little ones in a foreign land - Switzerland. You’re building something extraordinary for your children, and we’re here to cheer you on!
