People without Children have NO IDEA! (but you and I do;) The whole truth of life before kids and life after kids!
Tell me if this sounds familiar: You’re doing school/Kita/playgroup/ camp drop off.
You’ve got to be at a specific place, at a specific time.
You have to leave the ho use NOW.
And yet… your kid(s) seem to be moving in every possible direction except toward the door.
Suddenly, you find yourself:
👉 Searching for shoes that have mysteriously vanished (again)
👉 Wrestling a squirming toddler into a coat like it’s a full-body workout
👉 Dealing with last-minute toilet trips (we call them “just-in-casies”)
👉 Finally reaching the door—only to hear: "I need a snack!"
My absolute favourite comedian, Michael McIntyre, sums it up perfectly:
Before kids, you just grab your keys and go (remember THOSE TIMES?:)
After kids?
You need a 20-step action plan, backup supplies, and the patience of a saint.
If you need a laugh (or validation), watch his take on it here. I promise—it’s painfully relatable!

Ahhhh, I TOTALLY get it:)
That’s why the classes and events we host at Academicus are designed to make life easier—We want to be the place where your little one can learn, explore, and make friends, while you grab a coffee and breathe. Whether it’s Family Storytime, Superhero Sports, or our magical Family Concerts, we’ve got something to make your day smoother.
So if today’s “get out the door” mission felt like a complex military operation, know you’re not alone. I see you and I am cheering for you.
PS: Try as I might, it usually takes me 45 minutes to get from “finished breakfast” to “actually dressed and out the door.” ...and I’m calling that a world record.
How long does it usually take you? Reply to this email and let me know—I could use the reassurance. 😆
See you soon (whenever you finally make it out the door 😉)!
